Higher Assistant Respiratory Physiologist

Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join the physiologist staff of the Multidisciplinary Respiratory Team for the Lung Function Unit based at Russells Hall and Corbett Hospital.
This is a permanent post and the successful applicant is not expected to have experience in any of the main duties. Full training will be provided in all aspects of the job and the post holder's competence to perform any given task will be assessed. The post-holder will be required to complete an in-house training programme and attain the required levels of competence.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be required to perform a range of routine lung function tests, sleep studies and to assist with the day to day running of the service. These tests will be primarily performed as an outpatient basis on the adult population.
Spirometry will be the main diagnostic breathing test that will be performed along with the issuing of domiciliary sleep study equipment.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- GCSEs at Grade 4 or above in English, Maths and a Science subject (or equivalent e.g. Functional skills level 2)
- A-Levels at Grade E or above in Maths, English and 1 Science (or equivalent e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare)
Desirable criteria
- ARTP Certificate in Spirometry or equivalent assessed competence
- ARTP Certificate in Pulse Oximetry or equivalent assessed competence
- Basic Life Support
Knowledge and Training
Essential criteria
- Interaction with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and beliefs
- Desire to work in a caring profession and has respect for patient dignity
- Commitment to undertake In-house training
- General understanding of the NHS Constitution, Trust visions and values
Desirable criteria
- Performance of Spirometry
- Performance of Pulse Oximetry
- Knowledge of speciality and of duties required as a Higher Assistant Respiratory Physiologist
Experience

- Previous NHS Experience
- Experience of working in a busy department or similar environment
