Job overview
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision. They will be required to actively participate in the teaching and supervision of other nursing and non-nursing staff.
The post holder will also be required to take a lead / link role for the nursing unit/department to be determined on appointment/appraisal.
Will need to be confident and competent in the assessment and care of complex wounds following plastic surgery.

- Willingness to work across 3 sites and work flexibly covering for colleagues as necessary
- Ability to organise and prioritise a diverse workload and work under pressure
- Problem solving/co-ordination skills

- Ability to deal with complaints in line with Trust Policy
- Focus on performance and quality
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of professional Development
- Willingness to complete courses and training relevant to specialist area
- Good organisational skills
- Knowledge and experience assessing and dressing complicated wounds
- Able to identify appropriate skill mix to ensure correct support for clinics across an orgnaisation
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of health and safety in workplace
- Working knowledge of NICE guidelines and impact on services
Desirable criteria
- Experience within hospital setting
- Clinical competence in venepuncture, ECG or be willing to undertake training
Education Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing, or willingness to complete
Desirable criteria
- Degree level study
- Recognised Management/Leadership course
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Essential criteria
- Effective communication skills. verbal and written
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
