Job overview

STAFF NURSE 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 staff nurse to join our busy and friendly team on Ward B3 (Vascular) at the Dudley Group Foundation Trust. 

We are a rapidly developing and forward-thinking ward with an established nursing team who strive to provide an excellent standard of care to all patients. We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills.

We need you to help us make a difference to the lives of those who enter our care and to continue to deliver a high standard of treatment to our patients. This role would be suited to an individual who is highly committed, motivated and enthusiastic who also has a desire to develop skills within the Vascular specialty.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development and implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision. They will be required to actively participate in the teaching and supervision of other nursing and non-nursing staff. The post holder will also be required to take a lead / link role for the nursing unit/department to be determined on appointment/appraisal.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • First Level Registered Nurse with NMC
Desirable criteria
  • Nursing degree

Knowledge & Training

Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing, or commitment to complete
  • Evidence of professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Completion of preceptorship/support skills
  • Intravenous drug administration skills
  • Computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Venepuncture/ cannulation skills

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates a caring attitude to patient care
  • Demonstrates a responsible attitude to their work
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
  • Able to cope with distressing or emotional circumstances
  • Able to cope with some unpredictable work patterns and changing circumstances.
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
