Overview

 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage clinical photography services across multiple NHS organisations, working within a supportive, enthusiastic, award winning team that values excellence in medical illustration.

 

The Clinical Photography Lead will oversee operations at:

·    Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust (DGHT)

·    Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT)

·    Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust (WHT)

 

Reporting to the Head of Clinical Illustration Services at RWT, you will be responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and leading a team of skilled clinical photographers.

 

This role is ideal for a qualified Clinical Photographer with strong leadership and project management experience, who is passionate about enhancing NHS medical photography services and able to inspire others to perform their best.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

Provide operational leadership for clinical photography teams across three Trusts.

Line manage Senior Clinical Photographers and Clinical Photography Business Manager.

Ensure smooth day-to-day clinical and non-clinical photography service delivery across all sites, escalating issues to the Head of Service as required.

Drive change management processes, engaging effectively with multidisciplinary teams at all levels.

Lead on policy development, quality control, and service improvement initiatives.

Manage devolved budgets and ensure cost-effective service provision.

 

Clinical & General Photography

Capture high-quality clinical images, including specialist dermatology photography, ophthalmic imaging, and other complex medical conditions requiring advanced photographic techniques.

Undertake non-clinical photography, video, and audio recording, including editing and post-production.

 

Professional Development & Governance

Professional membership of IMI and registered with AHCS.

Ensure compliance with professional standards set by the Academy for

Healthcare Science (AHCS) and the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI).

Maintain an up-to-date CPD portfolio.

Represent the service in discussions on clinical photography ethics, including patient consent, data security, confidentiality and research.

Act as an ambassador for clinical photography services internally and externally.

Help to personally and professionally develop staff members.

   7 clinical photographers at DGHT

   11 clinical photographers across RWT and WHT

   Specialists in video, animation, graphic design, AV technology, and print  production

Work Schedule

    4 days per week at DGHT (Dudley)

  • Extensive experience of Clinical Photography and image processing, with the essential qualifications listed.
  • Management experience, proven, extensive management experience of teams and formal, university / college qualification to level 7.

  • BSc in Medical Illustration Or Degree or HND in Photography with Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography
  • Post Graduate diploma in Clinical photography
  • Full professional membership of Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI)
  • Level 7 Management, formal university/college management qualification
