Job overview

Haematology and Blood Transfusion Team at Dudley are seeking a highly motivated team colleague with a positive attitude and patient focused mindset.

The post holder is expected to work as part of a team within the Haematology/Transfusion Laboratory, utilising their knowledge and skill base to provide specialist/technical support to the Biomedical Scientist team. 

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job can be seen in the attached Job Description.

The post is based at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley. 

The post holder will be expected to work along the other Associate Practitioners to provide extended support to the BMS team, as part of the overall 24/7 service provision for Haematology and Blood Transfusion.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Vocational NVQ level 3 plus training, experience and knowledge to Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Must have a good general education and must be numerate and literate with good command of spoken and written English

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working as a member of a team
  • Experience and good understanding of laboratory techniques/able to perform some complex tests under supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Experience and good understanding of Haematology/BT techniques/able to perform some complex tests under supervision
  • Basic understanding of Quality control/assurance
  • Understands laboratory Health and Safety regulations

Flexibility

Essential criteria
  • Participation in full shift rota.
