Job overview
Birmingham Women's & Children's NHSFT is seeking to appoint 4 Junior Clinical Fellows - ST 1-2 equivalent Appointments for Obstetrics and Gynaecology service. These posts are to commence as soon as possible and will be for a period of 6 months, with the potential to be renewed.
Main duties of the job
Hours of work are full time with on call commitments on the ST1-2 rota of 1 in 14 with banding 1b. The expected duties will be appropriate to the grade, including clinics, operating sessions and ward rounds; with special interest sessions (including within our Fetal Medicine Department) when the rota permits. Delivery suite duty, on call obstetrics and gynaecology is first on-call. The Trust provides 108 hours of consultant presence on Delivery Suite, hence there is ample opportunity for direct supervision and training on Delivery Suite.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration
- Qualified to undertake on-call work on the ST1-ST2 Tier in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Desirable criteria
- Up to date in emergency obstetric procedures
Experience & Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to offer clinical opinion/treatment on range of problems both emergency and elective
- Ability to take responsibility for clinical care of patients
- MRCOG Part 1
- At least 1-2 years of UK NHS experience
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of subspecialties where specified
- Computer literacy and IT experience
- Experience in achieving quality standards
- Evidence of training in Basic Obstetric Ultrasound
- Evidence of completion of Practical Skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Special Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Innovative
- Demonstrate skills in Audit and Clinical Governance activities.
