Job overview

Band 6 Shift Lead 

We are looking to appoint a Band 6  charge /Lead Nurse at our Community Rehab Care home to join   our friendly and supportive team.  You must have effective communication and negotiation skills.  As an advocate for our patients, you need to have the ability to inspire people at all levels.  This post would require that you had an understanding of the expanding role of community nursing and or District Nursing  and would have the commitment to take it forward.  You will need a sound understanding of the current primary care agenda, with excellent communication skills and effective leadership and decision-making skills.  You will need to be innovative and able to work autonomously whilst promoting a positive and supportive learning environment for team members and students.  This would be an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in supporting the team leader.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication skills, time management skills with the ability to prioritise and problem solve.  You will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills by having responsibility for the supervision of junior staff and students. 

This is a 7-day service including bank holidays and weekends.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • First level Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continual professional development
Desirable criteria
  • 2 Years experience in Leadership
  • Degree in District Nursing or Community nursing or equivalent

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate knowledge of research based practice
  • Post registration experience to include: Evidence of mentoring Project working Specialist training Management and development of others
  • Good background knowledge of issues within the primary care arena
Desirable criteria
  • Have knowledge of major NHS issues
  • Knowledge around stock requisition and IB Solutions system

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of being able to work as part of a team
  • Evidence of working to and achieving defined objectives
  • Evidence of knowledge relating to caseload management and leadership/provision of support to others
Desirable criteria
  • Show ability to adapt to change
  • Show evidence of care planning using a Nurse Model
  • Demonstrate an awareness of current community nursing issues
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach
