Job overview

Based at Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre - East Birmingham

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties, which include the receipt of all correspondence, booking of patient medical appointments, attendance at designated meetings recording accurate notes. Completion of audio transcription of clinical letters, reports and other correspondence as required by the Consultant Psychiatrist and medical team.


To act as a focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquires for the medical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within the Trust, GP’s, Social Workers, Service Users, Carers and any other appropriate external agencies. You will also help cover when other secretaries within the service are on annual leave.

To provide comprehensive medical secretarial service to 2 consultant psychiatrists working with young people.

  • GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent
  • AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent qualifications or minimum of 2 year Med Sec experience
  • Level 2 RSA/OCR word processing/typing qualification/equivalent experience
