Job overview

The catering department at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital is looking to recruit a part time qualified and  experienced Chef to work within our Winter Garden Restaurant, producing a hot meal service for staff, patients and visitors who visit the restaurant

Applicants must have City & Guilds 7061 & 2 or equivalent and level 3 Food Safety Certificate and also have experience working within a similar catering environment. Candidates must have high standards of work, be an outgoing, hard-working and enthusiastic individual that is able to work on their own initiative.

Hours 24.5 hours per week based on a two week rota

Shift pattern 

Week 1

Monday, Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday 10.30am - 17.00pm

Week 2

Monday & Tuesday 6.30am - 14.00pm, Wednesday & Thursday 10.30am - 17.00pm

Applicants are required to be flexible in their approach to hours and duties and able to work additional shifts as and when required.

 

Main duties of the job

To carry out duties to the required standards as efficiently and effectively as possible as part of the production team, to provide a high quality service providing safe and nutritious food to patients, staff and visitors in compliance with the Food Safety Regulations. This post requires good communication skills.

Duties include prepare, cook and store meals for staff, hospitalities in accordance with standardised recipes, completion  of all control paperwork and general cleaning duties.

  • Previous catering experience in a similar role required
  • To be willing to undertake and achieve the level 3 Food Safety Certificate, COSHH Training and Trust Mandatory Training Courses
  • Ability to produce quality food to standardised recipes within set time scales
