Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse within Critical Care, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients, working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team.

· Coordinating and delivering safe, compassionate, and effective nursing care in accordance with the NMC Code and Trust policies.

· Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised programmes of care, ensuring patients' physical, psychological, and emotional needs are met.

· Developing clinical competence in the care of critically ill patients through a structured learning programme, supported by experienced colleagues and the Practice Development Team.

· Recognising and responding promptly to changes in patients' conditions, escalating concerns appropriately to senior members of the multidisciplinary team.

· Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health professional, and support teams to ensure seamless, patient-centred care throughout the critical care pathway.

· Supervising, supporting, and contributing to the development of junior nurses, students, and support staff.

· Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with NMC standards and Trust policies.

· Safely administering prescribed medications, including intravenous therapies, while achieving and maintaining competency in medicines management.

· Promoting patient safety, dignity, and quality improvement through adherence to evidence-based practice and Trust values.
