Job overview

We are seeking an experienced passionate, dynamic forward-thinking individual who can work effectively as a CNS.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Nurse with substantial Dermatology experience to join our friendly and dynamic dermatology nursing team.

The Dudley Group has developed a wide range of nurse led services within Dermatology to include; Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) second line therapy-monitoring clinics, Photodynamic therapy treatments (PDT), and BADBIR research clinics. Other nurse-led services include regular advanced biopsy clinics, as well as established phototherapy and patch test clinics.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a substantial dermatology background to become a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Dermatology, where you will be expected to assess, plan and implement treatments for a defined group of dermatology patients with skin conditions. You will work collaboratively with consultant doctors, CNS colleagues, Lead nurse and Matron and other members of the dermatology nursing team.

The role will include teaching to support and develop other members of the wider nursing team.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • RN or relevant part of NMC register
  • ENB 998 or experience of provision of patient and staff education within a dermatology speciality
  • Master's degree in relevant Clinical Practice or willingness to complete within an agreed timeframe
  • Nurse Prescribing course or willingness to complete
  • Educated to 1st degree level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership development course
  • Recognised management course

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification
  • Knowledge of current dermatology clinical developments and professional issues affecting nursing
  • Able to develop own skills and develop nursing practice under the supervision of a medical member of staff
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relevance of governance and risk management within clinical practice
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Ability to demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills
  • Evidence of having developed team working skills and implemented teamwork practices
  • Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a dermatology outpatients setting for a minimal of 3 years
  • Experience of being able to prioritise workloads and manage own group of defined patients
  • Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in patient involvement activities & feedback
  • Experience of managing a budge
