Application Support Analyst

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

Job overview
Implement and perform testing, release and change control services to ensure all releases and configuration changes are appropriately tested and released in accordance with defined best practice, policies and procedures.
Deliver effective Change Management processes and procedures to minimise impact and maximise benefits to end users.
Provide effective administration and co-ordination for the release, test and change processes.
Main duties of the job
- Support and assist the release and test lead
- Support all phases of testing in Cert and post implementation into Production, and the execution of testing activities, including comprehensive test scenarios & scripts, supported by adequate data & expected results.
- Act responsibly in respect of colleague’s health, safety and welfare following safe work practices and complying with the Trust’s Health and Safety Policies.
- Adhere to all Trust Policies as applicable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will support the senior application support analyst in configuration, testing, release management and dealing with support calls relating to applications supported by Digital Services.
The portfolio in Walsall Healthcare covers both national and local based applications, systems and services, all of which as a key member of the Application Support Team you will help deliver on.
Working within agreed Service Level Agreements you will deliver a professional and timely service to all users of the above services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- English Language GCSE grade C or above equivalent
- Working knowledge of Mircosoft Word, Spreadsheets, Data Bases, Excel and PowerPoint
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of ITIL
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable clinical system support experience
Desirable criteria
- NHS or similar experience
- Experience in configuration and testing applications
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of a range of administrative & organisational procedures relating to the role
- Advanced computer skills in MS office products including Excel, Word, Database
- Experience in other NHS systems such as PAS, SCRa
- Good interpersonal skills, both face to face and over the telephone
- Able to work as part of a team
- Experience of diary management and dealing with conflicting tasks
- Experience of creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases
- Experience of support and delivering clinical and Non clinical systems
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of front end PAS processes and procedures

- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workload
