Job overview

We are very excited to be looking for a motivated practice Educator to join our friendly team in Walsall. We want an enthusiastic practitioner with excellent assessment and communication skills, eager to develop their clinical neonatal and leadership skills. In return you will be supported by our skilled senior nursing and medical team. You will be passionate about improving neonatal care and improving the experience of babies and their families in the neonatal unit. You will support staff to enable them to maintain high standards of clinical care and act as a role model. You will also have excellent management and communication skills and take charge of the unit when required. You would require significant post QIS certification experience.

Main duties of the job

 

To co-ordinate and facilitate educational activities for Registered and non- Registered nursing and midwifery staff within the designated practice area including all education in relation to medical devices. To establish and maintain links with the Universities of Wolverhampton, Keele and Birmingham City. To participate in Foundation teaching sessions at Keele University as required. To participate in regional and national projects, such as West Midlands Perinatal network groups relating to education and quality Improvement. To actively participate in the improvement of patient experience and care standards on NNU and the wider relevant areas. Able to demonstrate effective clinical skills of a high quality, looking after special, high dependency and Intensive care babies. Able to demonstrate professional expertise and knowledge acquired through post registration academic study and clinical, leadership and management development. Managerial responsibility and accountability in the absence of the Lead Nurse, for the Neonatal Unit for the twenty four hour care delivery and management of the ward/area of work, including the supervision of staff and students. Expected to maintain a visible presence in the ward/area of work and provide a clear focus for effective clinical leadership to the nursing team .

It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
