Sexual Health Data and Information Officer

We are looking for a Data Officer  to work within the Sexual Health Service to collect, retrieve and enter patient data from a variety of sources in order to facilitate Clinical Audit and data collect.

The successful candidate will work as part of a busy outpatient service and will be required to communicate well with peers and colleagues. 

We are looking for someone advanced knowledge of excel and other computer systems, with an interest in data and how data can be used to develop a service.   

The role will include working with patient information system Lilie, so an understanding of medical terminology would be beneficial, with the ability and willingness to learn the specialist’s terminology.   

The successful candidate should be an enthusiastic and ambitious person as there is scope in the role for development. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To be responsible for extracting, downloading and submitting data from the Lilie/HARS database systems via agreed procedures and ensure any data errors flagged up as part of this process are resolved.

Including working closely with consultants and clinical staff to reduce the occurrence of missing data and improve data quality.

To ensure that this data is processed and stored in a way that satisfies General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

To ensure that all required fields are kept up to date and meet the necessary national standards for audit compliance.

To compare database information with data from clinical records and seek the advice of senior medical staff where the reasons for discrepancy cannot be identified.

To ensure data is inputted onto relevant databases in a timely and accurate manner.

To escalate coding discrepancies within the clinical teams.

To work on solutions to ensure that data coded across the service is accurate and to correct inaccurately coded attendances when necessary.

To compile data to support monthly, quarterly and annual submission to commissioners.

Create new databases for local data collection within the Service (including HIV).

Ensuring databases used for data collection are updated in line with changes in national/local guidelines.

To provide information from the databases for medical training records, research projects, audits, business planning and other ad hoc requests
