Junior Sister - Paediatric High Dependency Unit

Job overview
This role will allow you to work within a dynamic, forward thinking and evolving nursing team. With an exciting opportunity to be part of the newly established Level 2 high dependency services. You will be working closely with the management team to support the development of the unit and work alongside junior colleagues to achieve competencies involving a number of HDU skills. You will see see a wide range of children and young people with a variety of different medical and surgical conditions. Both with acute and chronic healthcare needs. This will provide fantastic learning opportunities.

Main duties of the job
Does your passion lie in giving excellent care to sick children? Are you career minded with drive and enthusiasm? Do you have an interest / experience working in Paediatric High Dependency?
Do you have experience of Tracheostomy care, BiPAP and LTV?

To be considered for the role you will be a registered Children’s Nurse with an RSCN or RN Child qualification and have completed a Mentorship or Supervisor and Assessor Course. You must also have evidence of professional updating within the last 12 months and have an appropriate post registration course. It would be advantageous to have management experience and evidence of effective leadership skills. As a team leader you will be responsible for managing your own team of staff ensuring that their mandatory training and annual personal development reviews are completed, as well as leading the team clinically. The posts will also include some managerial responsibilities.
All applicants should be flexible providing a 24 hour, 7 days a week service, working a shift pattern of days and nights to meet the needs of the service.

To support and deputise for the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in ensuring the standards of professional practice as set out by appropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or role are maintained.
Utilise clinical proficiency in delivering a high standard of nursing care. Provide managerial and leadership skills to support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse and nursing team to deliver continually improved standards and efficient and effective use of resources.
