Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Lead Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Nurse within the Respiratory Centre.

This is a fixed term post for 12 months.

The lead ILD nurse plays a key leadership role within the respiratory multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical care, coordination, and education for patients with ILD and their families. The postholder leads on service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of evidence based care are delivered across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Essential criteria to include  Health Assessment and V300 Nurse Prescribing or already working towards.

 

Main duties of the job

To lead and manage the ILD nursing service, providing specialist assessment, diagnosis support and ongoing management of patients with complex ILD conditions.

Act as an expert practitioner, offering holistic care including symptom management,  medication support (e.g antifibrotics), and end of life planning where appropriate.

Co-ordinate ILD clinics and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring seamless communication between respiratory physicians, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals.

Drive continuous improvement through innovation, patient feedback, and service evaluation, ensuring the ILD service aligns with national standards and best practice.
