Following the appointment of Chief Executive, Joe Chadwick-Bell and a restructuring of responsibilities to create a site based Hospital Management Team at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, there is now an amazing opportunity for you to become our next Chief Operating Officer (COO).

As we continue to shape the future of integrated healthcare in our Trust Group and region, we are seeking a dynamic, compassionate leader to join our Hospital Management Team, reporting into the Managing Director of the Royal Wolverhampton.

Main duties of the job

Working with the Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and the Board, particularly in bringing an operational perspective to the development of the Trust’s strategic direction in relation to the provision of healthcare, teaching, and research

You will lead on the operational delivery of acute,  community, tertiary and primary care services across the Trust. You will oversee performance, ensure the highest standards of patient care, and lead a large and diverse workforce with compassion and accountability.

Working at the heart of the Integrated Care System (ICS), you’ll play an important role in shaping system-wide collaboration, improving patient pathways, and building partnerships that transcend traditional boundaries.

Experience / Skills

Essential criteria
  • Successful track record at Director/ Senior Management level, including exposure at Board Level in a large complex organisation.
  • An understanding of key NHS Service Performance Standards
  • Experience of developing and implementing corporate strategies with a track record of successful delivery against national and local targets
  • Demonstrable experience of setting and delivering a long term vision, whilst responding to short-term challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience of successfully delivering cost improvement and financial growth programme
  • Experience of working in a Acute Trust.
  • An in-depth understanding of NHS Regulatory requirements and awareness of NHS Operating Framework, commissioning landscape, systems and processes;
  • Ability to influence and operate effectively in a challenging environment
  • Ability to cope with rapid and sustained change and competing demands, managing priorities within tight deadlines
