Advanced Nurse Practitioner

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join our stroke specialist CNS/ANP team as a full time band 7 advanced nurse practitioner. Our specialist team covers a 24/7 stroke specialist service including pre alert video triage, front door assessment, triage and treatment of all suspected stroke and TIA patients including thrombolysis and referrals for thrombectomy. As a band 7 ANP you will also cover nurse led clinics and assist with service improvement, teaching and training as well as be involved with audit and data. We also receive stroke referrals from across the hospital site. You will be expected to cover all shift patterns including long days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.

We are a large stroke center and see over 1,200 stroke patients per year and over 2,000 TIA patients so being able to work in a fast paced environment and an ability to prioritise is a must.

It is expected that applicants will have significant experience specialising in stroke care as well as health assessment skills and Non Medical Prescribing/Independent prescribing qualifications. It is also expected that applicants will have a MSc or be working towards one.

Main duties of the job

To deliver autonomous advanced level practice encompasses aspects of education, research and management but is firmly grounded in direct compassionate care provision or clinical work with patients, families, caseloads and populations.
Nurses working at an advanced level will promote public health and well-being using ‘making every contact count’ as an approach to change behaviour through interactions with individuals, carers and families to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We’re passionate about the value that diversity of thinking and lived experience brings in enabling us to become a learning organisation and leader in delivering compassionate care for our patients.

We are delighted that we have been rated as “Good” by CQC. We have achieved numerous awards; The Nursing Times Best Diversity and Inclusion Practice and Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff in 2020.

The Trust is a supportive working environment committed to creating flexible working arrangements that suit your needs and as such will consider all requests from applicants who wish to work flexibly.
