Job overview

To provide line management and comprehensive administrative support to all Admin & Clerical (A&C) staff within the Children’s Emergency Department (CED). 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure delivery of a professional and efficient A&C team and service to patients and visitors of the CED with focus on providing excellent customer service at all times. They will ensure full and accurate completion of all Careflow (including Emergency Care, Inpatient and Outpatient modules); and other IT systems within the A&C teams responsibilities. 

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring information governance and quality assurance exercises of A&C roles. The post holder will have a key role in the development and management of setting up new administration pathways, processes and systems to be utilised by CED A&C team, working closely with the Department Sister(s) and Consultants. The post holder will provide both training and support to the A&C team within this process.

Essential criteria
  • Previous clerical / administrative experience
  • Experience of dealing with the public
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, managing own workload, whilst providing supervision and support to others
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
  • Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
