Job overview

You will be expected to participate in the manipulations of sterile injectables; including chemotherapy, TPN and CIVAS using isolator technology. You will assist in the preparation of associated paperwork, ensuring that we meet the exacting standards of the NHS.
A good general education, demonstrating a suitable level of literacy and numeracy is essential, along with basic IT computer skills. We offer the necessary training and validations to support your induction to the service and look forward to working with you.
Main duties of the job
To assemble and prepare pharmaceutical products in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures
Prepare, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice, Aseptic injectables using isolator technology
To accurately record and maintain all elements of paper-work related to the preparation of products and maintenance of the facility
Support the supervision of assistants working within Pharmacy Technical Services and support the delivery of their training
To assist in the maintenance of the environment, ensuring that the cleanliness of the facility is to GMP standards

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Aseptic preparation of injectable medicines and other sterile products using isolator technology
- Assemble associated paperwork and components for all aspects of service provision methodically and accurately following standard operating procedures
- Undertakes the physical and microbiological environmental monitoring associated with the facility.
- Undertakes the regular daily cleaning of the aseptic facility in accordance with GMP and departmental procedures
- Undertake the monthly and 3 monthly “deep clean” processes.
- Assemble non-sterile packs of emergency medication in line with departmental procedures and trust wide resuscitation policy
- Dispense associated medications that accompany the injectable product using pharmacy related computer software.
- Using dedicated pharmacy system maintain stock levels to ensure product and processes are charged appropriately and stock is re-ordered in a timely manner.
- Assists in the completion of QA records using the quality management systems.
- Maintain competency through regular training and validation following initial training.
To work together with the team to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner to meet the needs of the service.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- English, Maths & Science (2 from 3) at or above GCSE grade 4 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Completed NVQ LvL 2 (or equivalent)
- Completed Pre & In process Checking (PIPC)
Work Experience
Desirable criteria
- Working within a large organisation part of a dedicated team
- Previous employment within a Pharmacy setting
- Knowledge of MHRA &/or GMP
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Essential criteria
- Competent command of the English language
- Excellent communication skills – Ability to use multiple methods to interact with a wide range of healthcare professionals
Desirable criteria
- Ability to motivate others within the team setting
- Proficiency to use computers – Ability to manipulate windows® driven software applications
