Band 6 skilled Dietitian  

9 months fixed contract (ends March 26) 

2 Days a week (0.4 WTE) 

 We are looking for a Dietitian with band 6 clinical experience to work 2 days a week within our busy department. This post is likely to support the band 7 oncology dietitian, reviewing cancer patients (F2F and telephone). This role can be flexible and working from home will be considered, days to be confirmed.  

You would need to be highly organised, time efficient and show great leadership within your day to day practice. Excellent communication skills within the team is essential whilst also demonstrating empathy and professionalism with this patient group.  

There are internal CPD opportunities to support development and there may be opportunities to support student training (Plymouth University and Birmingham University dietetic students).

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a dietetic service to oncology patients  

  • To facilitate nutritional care by offering expert advice about oncology -related nutrition 

  • To support education and training on nutrition-related topics, relating to the cancer pathway. 

  • Assist with audit and research related to specialist area. 

  • To contribute to implementation of the Trust Nutrition strategies

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To provide effective and evidence-based dietetic service to oncology services. 

 

  1. This means providing expert advice to patients, carers and clinicians about the most effective nutritional treatment and management of patients with a cancer diagnosis. 

  1. ensuring that dietary intervention optimises nutritional status taking into account the effects and treatments of different cancers 

  1. liaising with members of the health care team in hospital and in the community to ensure they are fully informed and able to support the patient in implementing the appropriate nutritional prescription / management for their condition. 

 

  1. To be responsible for and manage a defined clinical caseload. The caseload will include complex cases which the post-holder will manage.  

 

  1. To undertake core dietetic clinical responsibilities as outlined by HCPC.
