North Bristol Trust are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a specialty doctor to join our Rheumatology workforce.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Specialty Doctor in Rheumatology to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team. This role involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with a wide range of Rheumatological conditions.

As a Specialty Doctor, you will contribute to outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary team meetings, supporting consultant-led clinics and working collaboratively with our Specialist team of allied health professionals to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care of our patients.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering evidence-based care. Experience in Rheumatology and a proactive approach to professional development are essential.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties : The postholder will be responsible for the clinical management of patients under their care, and, in liaison with consultant colleagues across both ward cover and outpatient clinics.

Teaching and Supervision of Junior Medical Staff & Students: The postholder will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

Audit and Research: The postholder will be required to take part in a Clinical Audit Programme as required.

We treat patients within all aspects of rheumatology and provide comprehensive services for inflammatory arthritis, ultrasound, transition care, metabolic bone disease | osteoporosis, GCA, autoimmune CTD and vasculitis.   We run a tertiary level regional service for autoimmune CTD, vasculitis and interstitial lung disease, and rare bone diseases.  We are part of the Adult Rare Bone Disease Rare Disease Collaborative Network (RDCN).

Knowledge and Expertise

  • Recent experience and familiarity of NHS UK hospital, systems, and practices
  • Broad based professional training in general medicine
  • IT skills and computer literacy

  • Previous senior experience & training within Rheumatology

Teaching

Essential criteria
  • Experience of teaching junior medical staff, allied healthcare professionals and undergraduates
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification
  • Delivered a teaching course

Management and Audit

  • Experience of audit and QI
  • Able to provide leadership
