Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Domestic Assistant (20 hours) to work in Pathology, who will play an integral role in making a positive impact on our cleaning service. 

As part of a team, you will be helping to deliver the best environment and standards of cleanliness to our Pathology staff and visitors.

You will provide a high quality responsive, efficient and effective support service to the busy laboratories and departments in North Bristol NHS Trust acting, ensuring we can continue to provide a quality service to patients. 

This opportunity will ideally suit someone who has experience in delivering excellent cleaning standards, and can work on your own or as part of a team. 

Covering cleaning and waste management for a 24/7 laboratory service,  the successful applicant will be required to work a shift from Monday - Friday.

Shifts available: 07:00-11:00 for 20 hours post 

Main duties of the job

Carrying out cleaning duties as instructed. 

Cleaning of departments, laboratories and offices as designated including communal areas, stairs, corridors, lift, and toilets. 

Carry out cleaning in accordance with schedules. 

Ensure waste is correctly segregated. 

Emptying rubbish bins and ensuring the replacement bags are in accordance with the Trust waste policy. 

Carry out safe hygiene practices and procedures in accordance with Trust policy and code of practice. 

Damp dust furniture, fittings, edges, ledges, paintwork walls, and doors. 

To maintain safe and efficient standards of work, following codes of practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Carrying out cleaning duties as instructed. 

Cleaning of laboratories and offices as designated including communal areas, stairs, corridors, lift, and toilets. 

Domestic trolleys are to be kept clean, fully stocked, and tidy at all times. 

Equipment should be thoroughly cleaned after use including filters in vacuum cleaners in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions 

Carry out cleaning in accordance with schedules 

Replenishing toilet paper, soap, paper towels as required 

Advise Domestic stores of consumables that need replenishing 

Ensure waste is correctly segregated  

Damp dust furniture, fittings, edges, ledges, paintwork walls, and doors. 

Emptying rubbish bins and ensuring the replacement bags are in accordance with the Trust waste policy. 

Carry out safe hygiene practices and procedures in accordance with Trust policy and code of practice. 

Checking of equipment prior to use to ensure all faults are reported to the manager as they develop. 

Reporting of accidents/dangerous occurrences to management and contributing to the completion of accident forms. 

Ensure correct cleaning procedures are adhered to and keep updated with changes to products.
