When and where?

Main duties of the job

  • Provide evidence-based care under direct or indirect supervision
  • Deliver advice and treatment to adults and children
  • Carry out common treatments such as:
    • Acute and surgical wound care management
    • Splinting or plastering of limbs
    • Monitoring unwell patients
  • Initiate onward referrals to specialist inpatient, outpatient, or community-based teams
  • Promote health and independence
  • Offer health education on topics such as wound care, alcohol, plaster and mobility aid use.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC registration as Nursing Associate
  • Recognised Nurse Associate higher education qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Wound care management qualification or course
  • Infection Prevention and Control training, including aseptic non touch technique.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working without direct supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Management of acute and/or chronic wounds
  • Undertaking patient vital signs monitoring, recognising abnormal results and escalating care
Desirable criteria
  • Application of Plaster of Paris immobilisation
  • Application of immobilisation splints
  • Ability to undertake 12 lead ECG recordings
  • Experience of a an Urgent or Emergency Care setting.
  • Stores management and ordering.
