Job overview
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the Dermatology Department at UHBW. The successful candidate will work alongside the Fast Track Team and Cancer MDT Coordinators, playing a key role in tracking patients with suspected cancer from the point of referral to ensure they are seen in a timely manner.
The role requires strong communication skills, as it involves regular interaction with various departments across the Trust. You will also provide essential support to both the Fast Track Team and Cancer MDT Coordinators.
This position is well-suited to candidates who are able to manage conflicting demands and respond to incoming queries in a positive, professional manner. The ability to stay organised and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment is essential.
The post holder will be expected to split their week working both in the office and from home.

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for ensuring patients on a 62 days pathway (62 day standard, screening and upgrade) reach the Faster Diagnosis Standard by day 28.
- To act as a point of contact (in phone and in person) in communications with patients, relatives and GPs and other external hospital staff / tertiary referrers.
- To provide support to the Fast Track Office who manage all 2WW Referrals.
- Record accurate data on the Cancer Database (Somerset Cancer Registry)
- To liaise with the relevant outpatient department ensuring that patients first outpatient appointments or straight to test appointment is booked within 2WW target.
- Manage areas of the Cancer Patient Tracking Lists (PTL) ensuring all parts of pathways of care are delivered in a timely manner, for example arranging diagnostic or treatment procedures to be expedited when booked outside of treatment date.
- Ensuring any capacity issues are escalated to the Deputy Performance & Operations Manager, Cancer Services via the weekly PTL checks. Where necessary issues should be escalated immediately without waiting until the meeting.
- To support Cancer MDT Coordinators, ensuring smooth administration of patients along their care pathway. To provide administrative assistance as required during periods of annual leave.
- Assisting with the smooth running of the Cancer Services team by working as a member of a team, providing cross-cover when necessary and offering assistance to other team members as required.

- 5 GCSEs / NVQ Level III or equivalent
- IT Skills or qualifications to ECDL/RSA standard
