Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience, preferably with a technical focus.
Master’s level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at a senior level

Desirable criteria

Relevant ICT qualifications (CCIE / MCSE, PRINCE2, ITIL practitioner)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

Information Technology specialist with strong technical skills, with an up-to-date in-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture
Full understanding of Industry best practice methodologies for service delivery, infrastructure and security.
Departmental manager familiar with line managing staff and dealing with issues
Understanding the NHS modernisation agenda and appreciation of the national information strategy
Understanding NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), particularly in regard to IT security
Ability to translate local and national requirements into an information plan
Expert understanding of mainstream enterprise technologies with knowledge/experience of deployment/operation within a large complex organisation
Significant expertise in staff management, coaching, team building and change Management
Strong technical ability built up from managing multiple technologies
Good understanding of managing highly available mission critical systems
Excellent communications skills, with the ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and deliver the correct level of information dependent upon the audience
