The Estates Maintenance Department at University Hospital’s Bristol and Weston NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity arise for an experienced Mechanical Assistant based in Bristol.

With a starting salary of £28,497 pro rata, overtime and unsocial enhancements, and a great annual leave and pension offer there isn't a better time to consider joining the team!

You’ll join an experienced and dedicated mechanical team, working as part of a larger estate’s workforce of around 100 people.

If you’re looking to expand your skills and move into commercial buildings – this is an ideal opportunity for you! We provide an extensive training package to support you in understanding a complex healthcare estate.

The ideal candidate will have:-

  • Experience of working as a domestic or commercial plumber in any setting
  • A City & Guild Mechanical/Plumbing qualification at Level 2 or equivalent
  • Have a desire to work in a large healthcare environment

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in playing a role in the delivery of planned preventative maintenance regime as instructed by team leaders and completion of jobs on agility and Zetasafe via PDAs.
  • React promptly to day-to-day breakdowns of mechanical equipment/assets as instructed by team leader / help desk ensuring response and completion times meet the Trust KPI’s.
  • Assist with minor repairs to cooling and heating systems such as gasket repairs, replacements etc.
  • To physically carry out manual work using safe working practice
  • Be part of LRTP lift release of trapped passenger/s rota (training provided)
  • To work shifts as agreed on a rotating pattern i.e. 0700 – 1700 Hours & 09:00-19:00 Hours.
