Job overview

Are You Passionate About Making a Difference in the Lives of Children and Young People?

Do you have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can develop your skills and progress in your career? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you!

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is excited to offer opportunities for Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Workers (SHCSW) to join our dedicated and caring team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional care to children and young people.

Please note, this role does not currently meet the salary requirement for certificate of sponsorship. From the 9th April 2025, the minimum salary required for a Skilled Worker visa became £25,000 per year. While this role may be offered at a higher point on the pay scale depending on relevant NHS experience, most new starters are appointed at the bottom of the band, which does not meet the new salary threshold.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 3 SHCSW, you will play a crucial role in supporting children and young people with their healthcare needs. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, delivering high-quality care. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with personal care and ensuring the well-being of patients.
  • Supporting the clinical team with observations and treatments.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to children, young people and their families.
  • Helping maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients.
  • Working closely with other healthcare professionals in a team

This role is ideal for someone who is caring, compassionate and eager to make a positive impact on the lives of young patients.
