This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time 0.5WTE specialist bereavement midwifery role within St Michael’s and Weston hospitals.

The applicant must be an existing Band 6 midwife with recent experience in looking after women and families who have experienced loss of a baby.

This development role is for a period of 2 years (24 months).

You will be supported to develop the skills needed in this role, we just ask for your enthusiasm to learn and a can do attitude.

The role will involve teaching and training members of the multidisciplinary team, therefore previous experience in teaching and training is required. The applicant will work alongside current Snowdrop team to establish a multidisciplinary training programme relating to pregnancy loss for all staff. They will ensure that all staff have access to training, clinical supervision, and education to maintain delivery of high quality care across UHBW

They will facilitate and provide individualised care to bereaved women and their families, and act as an advocate throughout their care and into the next pregnancy. They will support the obstetric team during follow-up appointments and pregnancy clinical encounters

The role will involve building on and strengthening relationships with other departments including: gynaecology department, fetal medicine unit, central delivery suite, patient safety team, mortuary staff, and screening midwives to provide a seamless service for staff and families. They will liaise with the psychology team to ensure that women are referred appropriately

They will regularly attend and contribute to Trust perinatal mortality meetings

The successful applicant will be required to work within an existing team and ensure excellent communication and a willingness to help develop staff for the future. They must work across both St. Michael's and Weston sites and able to provide home visits to support women and their families. Essential to hold a driving license

Qualifications and Training

  • Current NMC registration
