Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, pro-active Paediatric Dietitian to join our department and work with our Community and Eating Disorders Teams. This role is suitable for a Band 7 dietitian but can provide support for a fast track Band 6 to 7 for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian provides an expert dietetic service for outpatients. This post is split with 3 days per week working with children with complex needs including children with restricted eating difficulties related to their underlying diagnosis as part of our community service and 2 days per week working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team of mental and physical health professionals working with children and young people with eating disorders. The community work will be in an outreach capacity and cover the North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol areas.
The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian is a member of an integrated dietetic team, the multidisciplinary community CAMHS team and the secondary care eating disorders team consisting of a Consultant Paediatrician, clinical psychologist and assistant psychologist. The Specialist dietitian works in collaboration with other Specialist Paediatric Dietitians covering a range of specialties. We are a research active department with a track record of promoting career development opportunities.
A good grounding in paediatric dietetics is essential and ideally you will have clinical paediatric experience in eating disorders, however ongoing continuing professional development is integral to the post. Good team working, innovation skills and a drive for high standards of clinical care and knowledge are needed to help with the present and future development of these services.
