Job overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly, dedicated, and expanding team of professionals as a Band 6 Biomedical IT Support Specialist in Laboratory Medicine at UHBW.
You will be a proactive member of the Pathology IT Team. Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to work within a team, autonomously and support implementation projects across both the Weston and Bristol Lab Med Sites. You should have great multi-tasking ability, have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail and be able to appropriately prioritise.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a team providing Pathology IT support to the UHBW Pathology service. The post holder will be undertaking a key role in key IT projects supporting the Weston of England Pathology network objectives. These aim to improve patient safety and laboratory efficiency in order to maintain the highest standards of patient care.
The role will be to support the Path IT team in their duties with various IT systems and hardware.
To assist in the roll out of through barcoding with Primary care and to support the use of labgnostic to interface requests and results with other laboratories.
This role will be supporting both sites at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital, so flexibility of location is required. Base location to be determined.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- The post holder should have knowledge and experience of pathology IT systems and pathology order comms systems e.g. Clinisys ICE
- Understanding of networking and general IT procedures
- Able to demonstrate commitment to service improvements
- Experience of Winpath
- Understanding of the critical importance of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of organisational objectives
- Experience of document management systems (e.g. IQM)
- Experience of writing documentation
- Ability to demonstrate experience of troubleshooting
Skills and Abilities

- Basic keyboard skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows and associated programmes such as Word & Excel
