An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join the Medical Research Unit.
We are looking for a highly motivated professional to fill the role of a Research Nurse.
We deliver a wide range of clinical trials within the division of Medicine, in specialties including Dermatology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Stroke/Lipids, Respiratory/sleep, Microbiology and Hepatology.

The post holder will work as part of a growing, enthusiastic team of administrators, research nurses, and other research staff as part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting the delivery of clinical trials.

Main duties of the job
The research nurse is expected to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the regulatory and legal frameworks related to the planning, recruiting and follow-up of clinical research studies.
Working as part of the research team the research nurse will be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation and on-going care of research participants according to the study protocol.

- Good report writing, a focus on accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise to ensure effective and efficient workload completion

- Experienced in venepuncture

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) (if applying for research nurse position)
Desirable criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing, Science or Health related discipline
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad knowledge and experience of clinical practice within an acute hospital environment
- Interest in clinical research
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and willingness to develop technological computer skills further
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1984 and Caldicott principles
- Good understanding of the use of medical terminology
Desirable criteria
- Research/audit experience
