Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate senior nurse to join the Director of Nursing and the Deputy Directors of Nursing at Weston General Hospital which is part of UHBW, for a 12 month fixed term (secondment cover).

You will join a fantastic team of nurses who put patients at the heart of everything they do. 

Main duties of the job

You will need to be an exceptional leader who possesses vision and resilience to join a well-established team.  Weston is far reaching and includes the following specialties:  the Adult Emergency Department, Care of the Older Adult including an Older Persons Assessment Unit, Acute Medicine Unit, Same Day Emergency Care, Respiratory High Care, Gastroenterology, Cardiology and Endocrinology.  Our Elective and Outpatient Departments including specialist nurses and practitioners.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registration (RN)
  • Have significant clinical and operational experience and evidence of commitment to continuing managerial development
  • Educated to Master’s Degree in a related subject (e.g. clinical or management) or hold an equivalent level professional qualification or be working towards

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive leadership and clinical operational management experience in a medium/large acute healthcare provider setting
  • Significant senior clinical management experience within a complex service provider organisation
  • Substantial clinical management experience and achievement at operational level
  • Understanding of current NHS National Policies
  • Experience of directly line managing and providing strategic leadership to specialist staff/multidisciplinary service teams
  • Demonstrable understanding of quality and risk management issues and standards. (E)
  • Experience of managing/supporting major change projects and of delivering clinical services operationally during periods of change
  • Proven track record of leading innovation and clinical service improvements.
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management systems and processes
  • To address and mitigate clinical/operational risks
  • Working with staff both within and across various disciplines
