Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Radiology Department at Weston.
This is a part-time position, working 3 days per week. Working days are to be agreed but will include Mondays and Fridays. The post also includes participation in a Saturday rota and one late shift each week.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Clinical Imaging Department. Duties include welcoming and receptioning patients, accurately entering patient information onto the Radiology Information System (CRIS), answering a high volume of telephone calls, booking appointments, and providing administrative coordination within the CT service. The role requires excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a busy, patient-focused environment.
Main duties of the job
The service is provided over an extended working day and with some
weekend working.
To book radiology patients into the departmental CRIS system verifying
patients personal details and directing the patient to the correct waiting
area.
Co-ordinating transport patients, liaising with patient and carers a time to
attend, rearranging transport home.
Dealing with enquires over the telephone and in person
Makes appointments as required following protocols for plain film and
DEXA images working to radiology waiting times.
Deal’s with enquiries from patients regarding appointments, refers to
admin co-ordinator/manager if unable to resolve.
To act as co-ordinator in the CT department, scheduling ward and
Inpatient scanning times, requesting exams to be authorised, answering
the phone.
Able to organise own workload.
Prioritise workload depending on clinical urgency. Able to cope with
interruptions, enquires by telephone and in person.
To show a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives
and carers.
Follows detailed SOP’s and protocols.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Reports faults on equipment.
Training of new staff within the team in line with departmental protocols.
Perform all administrative tasks required, including patient reception & data entry onto Radiology Information System.
Responsible for maintaining patient records pertaining to imaging
examinations.
Ensure both imaging identification and patient documentation is accurate and that computer progression is timely.
Participate in audit and improvement in the quality work of the team.
Uses initiative when booking appointments but works under department
booking guidance. Reports all issues to modality lead or line manager.
Coping with receptioning patients, answering queries from other staff and the high volume of telephone calls.

Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
Desirable criteria
- Computer skills/ECDL
