Job overview
The post-holder will work under the supervision of a registered Therapist and will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation service for Outpatients with musculoskeletal conditions (MSK) at Weston General Hospital.
The post holder will deliver a defined range of activities within groups and 1-1 appointments, which will include an element of problem solving and use of initiative. Overall responsibility for the therapy management of the patient remains with the registered Therapists.
This role includes non-clinical tasks, such as stock taking & ordering equipment, which are essential to the smooth running of the department. The core working hours are 08:30-16:00 the post holder may be required to contribute to late working or weekends.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, great time management skills and have relevant experience of working as part of a team. This will include an element of problem solving and use of initiative.
Technicians will need to be aware of and appropriately manage sensitive and /or complicated information related to patient’s diagnosis or social situation. They will be able to carry out specific rehabilitation activities to improve core function skills such as balance, mobility, upper limb strength and function.
Understanding the role of occupational therapy and physiotherapy in an outpatient setting will be assessed at interview and experience of working in a healthcare setting is essential.
