An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 3 HCA to join our friendly team in the dermatology department at Amersham hospital of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post covers supporting general dermatology and 2 week wait clinics, including some specalist and nurse led clinics. This post will rotate between the OPD clinics and the wilkinson day unit. This will include topical treatments, simple dressing changes, Ionophoresis and chaperoning of patients in clinic.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain competencies and skills within dermatology.
All clinical areas at present operate Monday-Friday 8am-5.30PM
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
· To assist the registered nurse in the delivery of high quality and person-cantered care.
· To provide fundamental nursing care, e.g., assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking and mobility needs
Preparing patients for procedures. Ensuring a welcoming environment
Preparing theatres for minor surgical lists. Ensuring areas are clean and stock is avaliable.
Carrying out simple dressing changes and wound mamanegement.
Applying topical treatments and education under direct supervision.
· To carry out limited clinical observations and undertake a range of activities under direct or indirect supervision by a registered nurse, having been assessed as deemed competent in the activities required.
· To maintain high clinical standards
· To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
· To contributes towards the department and organisation in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
· The post holder may be required to work anywhere within the Trust.
Key working relationships include all members of the multi-professional team, including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and relevant support workers.

- Demonstrates a caring, compassionate and empathetic approach to patient’s and colleagues, whilst having a professional approach
- Recognise how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- The ability to respond with kindness and humanity to patients
- A flexible and adaptable approach with the aptitude to work in a busy hospital healthcare setting
- Willingness to undertake the mentorship of new Nursing Assistants after 12 months in post
- Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures
- An appreciation of equality, diversity and inclusion and how this influences how care is provided to patients
- A willingness to provide the highest standards of patient care including personal care
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Good understanding of care needs relevant to patient’s in a hospital setting to include: Eating and drinking Dignity and respect Communication/conflict resolution Handwashing and infection control Hygiene needs Safeguarding
- Understands the limit and scope of their job role and the need to only do tasks they are trained to do
- Knows when to escalate to a registered nurse when the situation is beyond their scope of practice
