Job overview

We are excited to be seeking an enthusiastic qualified clinical photographer to join our busy three site department.

The Medical Photography and Video service for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is an evolving service that is rapidly growing to meet the changing needs of its patients and clinicians.
The Trust comprises of three main hospitals; High Wycombe, Amersham and Stoke Mandeville with each site requiring skill and expertise in different specialties including (but not limited to) orthodontics, dermatology, plastics, spinal injuries and ENT. In addition, we also offer a limited service to our colleagues and patients in the community.

The post offered will be primarily based at Amersham Hospitals, where you will be supported by the Senior Photographers, Senior Videographer and Clinical Service Lead; although all team members are rota'd to cover all three Trust sites.

You will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in medical photography although consideration may be given to newly qualified candidates as appropriate training can be provided.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work innovatively and without supervision.
You will show an enthusiasm for clinical imaging and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

The opportunity for a trainee position may be considered for candidates who do not hold the required PGCert in Clinical Photography. They will be interviewed and offered Band 4 Trainee post.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for providing high quality clinical photography for diagnosis, case records, education, research and publication across a wide range of specialities and disciplines.
To provide Telederm services across the Trust and engage with our AI supported diagnostic services.
Be responsible for providing a general photographic support service for patient information, research, publication, education and public relations.

To assist senior photographer team in provision of clinical video services

To deputise for the Senior Clinical Photographer in their absence.

To engage with service developments and be an active member of the team when future planning takes place.

To be confident with patient interactions and to be able to work with empathy and consideration at all times.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Degree in Medical Illustration or degree in photography plus Post Graduate certificate
  • Attendance at relevant short courses.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 1 years experience of clinical photography
  • Digital photography and related Specialist software applications
Desirable criteria
  • Variety of experience within medical photography practice

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Clear concise oral and written communication skills in order to deal with a range of staff and patients.
  • Manual Handling skills
  • Ability to deal with complaints and different situations, e.g. under-taking photography for non-accidental injury.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and part of a team
  • Ability to organise own time
  • A working knowledge of the hospital environment
