Occupational Therapy Assistant for Acute Rehabilitation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Buckinghamshire Community Hospital - Waterside ward at Amersham Hospital as an Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Worker supporting the Therapy team implementing acute rehabilitation! 

The post will suit an independent, motivated, hard working and enthusiastic person, who wishes to work as part of the dynamic, personalised care therapy team.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will undertake therapy treatments and interventions on the Waterside ward and sometimes in a patient’s own home as identified by the Therapists to progress towards discharge home or to an alternative residence.

Previous experience of working in Therapy and having treated patients within a hospital or community environment with falls, orthopaedic, medical  or neurological conditions  is necessary.

Successful candidates will be fully trained for the requirements of the post and regular training, supervision and appraisal are provided.

  • Level 3 GCSE or equivalent in English
  • Good level of education to GCSE standard. (at least 3 subjects)

  • NVQ level III in Health care
  • Manual Handling or First Aid qualification

Experience

  • Experience within a customer care (face to face) environment
  • Previous work in health care environment and experience of patients with neurological impairment.
  • Previous work experience in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate, legal and in legible manner (in English)
  • Able to work within a team setting
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • Demonstrate insight into the importance of maintaining a safe working environment
  • Ability to learn / ability to self initiate learning (evidence within the last 2 years)
  • Awareness of health & safety issues and policies.
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
