Job overview
Applications are invited for the appointment to a substantive post as Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The post will comprise 10.0 PA and is non-resident on call.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a friendly and progressive Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The post has arisen consequent to consultant expansion. The post holder should have experience in Obstetrics and General Gynaecology with an interest in developing the Intermediate Gynaecology services.
The purpose of this post is to provide strong professional clinical leadership in Intermediate Gynaecology to ensure excellence in care provision which is responsive to women and their family's needs. The post holder will have the opportunity to lead on intermediate gynaecology clinics promoting the integration between primary and secondary care. There will be opportunity for other leadership roles based on the individual’s needs and service requirements.
Personal and professional development and leadership training will be given to support the team to provide high quality woman-centred care.
The candidate should have sufficient gynaecological skills to competently participate in a combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call rota.
The successful applicant will be expected to work at Stoke Mandeville (SMH), Wycombe Hospital (WH) and the Intermediate Gynaecology clinics.

- Antenatal Clinic
- Intermediate Gynaecology clinic
- Inpatient ward round
- Day Assessment Unit cover
- Operating (Gynae)
- Caesarean section lists
- Labour ward hot week

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and on GMC’s Specialist Register or have a written confirmation of eligibility for Specialist Registration.
- ATSM – Advanced labour ward practice
Desirable criteria
- MD/PhD/MBA
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to the required for a UK CCT
- Statement regarding appropriate training and experience including that relating to a specialist interest
Desirable criteria
- A gynaecology ATSM
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
