Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven pharmacist to join our friendly patient focused team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. You will need to be motivated, organised, and willing to work as part of a team .
You will be responsible for leading, managing, delivering, planning and developing the clinical pharmacy service to Acute and Emergency Care.
Looking after our patients is never dull, optimising patient medicines and developing services as part of the acute team is key. There is always a new treatment combination, clinical trial, patient pathway development or new drug to be implemented to improve care.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and development of clinical pharmacy services within Acute and Emergency Care in liaison with the Pharmacy Team Lead for Integrated Medicine, promoting the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines. They will:
- Liaise with the relevant senior pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, other allied health professionals (AHPs) and managers to promote safe, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medication.
- Liaise with external health professionals (i.e., community / primary care network pharmacists) and stakeholders across the Integrated Care System (ICS) in streamlining processes and encouraging best practice.
- Provide a clinical pharmacy service to acute wards including specialist advice and participation on ward rounds and multidisciplinary team (MDT) reviews.
- Practice as an independent prescriber within agreed therapeutic areas, in accordance with the BHT Non-Medical Prescribing policy.
- Provide pharmacy leadership to the Integrated Medicine directorate, deputising for the Pharmacy Team Lead for Integrated Medicine as necessary.
- Demonstrate strong digital literacy and effectively utilise electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) and other digital clinical systems to support safe prescribing, medicines optimisation and service improvements.

Essential criteria
- Registered Pharmacist: Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable criteria
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society / Royal College of Emergency Medicine / UK Clinical Pharmacist Association
- Post-graduate diploma in clinically pharmacy or recognised equivalent
- Independent Prescribing qualification
- RPS faculty Stage II accreditation
- Management Training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
- Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties including Acute and Emergency Care
- Experience of delivery of clinical pharmacy service to a specialist level
- Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Experience of project management
- Experience of conducting audits
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Work, communicate and provide effective leadership within a team
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, at meetings, with patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner.
