Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapists to join our Outpatients MSK, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Burns & Plastics and Elective Orthopaedics  rotation in Bucks healthcare NHS Trust. Rotations are 9 months long and cover a wide range of areas across different sites within the Trust. The rotations are:

  • Elective Orthopaedics  - Wycombe Hospital
  • Outpatients MSK  - Stoke Mandeville Hospital
  • Burns & Plastics - Stoke Mandeville Hospital 
  • Trauma & Orthopaedics - Stoke Mandeville Hospital

This role will suit someone who is motivated, flexible and hard-working, and keen to support patients to achieve their potential in rehabilitation. In all rotations the role is part of a well-established and supportive therapy team. There is a strong emphasis on staff development with support from Band 7 team leads on each rotation.

The post involves weekend working as part of the therapy weekend service.

  • Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality

  • Field work/clinical educators course

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of at least 18 months in a junior rotational Physiotherapy post
  • Previous experience in core physiotherapy specialties including acute in patient care, respiratory, Musculoskeletal and neurology
  • Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields and demonstrates reflective learning
  • Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
  • Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning
  • Experience of on-call and weekend working in an acute NHS Hospital

  • Knowledge of areas of influence of psychosocial and cultural factors on health/illness behaviours
  • Demonstration of having initiated change of practice or process
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
  • Experience in supervision of students and junior staff
  • Participation in audit and research and development activities
  • Experience of undertaking Senior (Band 6) role

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Able to make sound clinical decisions based on knowledge/experience and utilize advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Able to carry out a range of assessments and procedures in order to make clinical assessments and diagnosis
  • Ability to integrate, participate and contribute as an effective member of a team
  • Use of and/or knowledge of POMR record keeping
  • Knowledge of Current related legislation (H&S, Data P. Act, etc)
  • Understand how to maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity of patients

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
