Job overview
To undertake rotational training as outlined by the Trust training programme and gain a level of competence to be able to prepare for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council and to practise safely, effectively, and independently as a professional practitioner.
Main duties of the job
The post holder:
• Will work under the supervision of qualified pharmacists, technicians and other healthcare professionals in various professional and technical roles carried out in all sections of the pharmacy service including dispensing, ward/clinical services, medicines information, prescribing (if appropriate) and aseptic services.
• Will follow all legal and departmental practices including Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (orange guide), COSHH and lifting and manual handling regulations and all Trust policies and procedures.
• Will be expected to contribute in the development of pharmaceutical services, and to promote the highest standards of professional practice, whilst observing at all times the "Standards for Pharmacy Professionals” issued by the General Pharmaceutical Council.
All duties carried out by a Trainee Pharmacist will be under supervision. All work carried out is ultimately under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Trainee will be required to undertake a multisector placement as stated in position applied for on Oriel national application process.
