Main duties of the job
A full time (10 PA) post as a Specialist Doctor in Neurology and Stroke Medicine is available at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust for a 6-month fixed-term locum with possible extension depending on performance and progress. The post will be based at Wycombe Hospital in High Wycombe, although there will be service commitments in Neurology at Amersham hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
It is expected if the candidate continues that at the end of 18 - 24 months the candidate will be able to apply for Portfolio Pathway(CESR) to obtain CCT in Neurology. The trust has recently appointed and supported 2 Locum Specialist Doctors one of whom has completed the application process for CESR, awaiting outcome.
A higher degree/SCE in Neurology is desirable but not essential, providing a candidate has sufficient experience in General Neurology, Acute Neurology, Hyperacute stroke (thrombolysis & acute interpretation of CTA) and TIA. Candidates with good clinical experience will be considered and if successful will be supported for Portfolio Pathway to obtain CCT in Neurology.
This is part replacement post due to the retirement of one of the current consultants, and part new post. The successful candidate will be one in eight consultants/specialists contributing to the stroke on-call rota (SPOC). There are currently seven Neurologists and three stroke physicians in the trust.
