Applications are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a 12-month fixed-term post offering 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available, but these are subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.
Potential applicants are invited to discuss areas of sub-specialty interest with clinical managers at the Trust prior to application.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham and will also be expected to support colleagues doing these activities as part of his or her arranged job plan.
Main duties of the job
An interest in general gynaecology is desired for this role.
To participate in Consultant Labour Ward and emergency gynaecology cover and on call as per the rota.
The successful candidate will be expected to be motivated and committed to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services.

Working for our organisation
There are 15 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 5 Specialist Trainees and 11 Trust Doctors at registrar level.
There is 2 tier registrar rota during the day and night. The approximate number of births is around 4000.
There will be 1 in 12 on-call rota commitments including Labour Ward hot week (1in 12) and an Emergency Gynae hot week (1in 13, AM session only).

The successful candidate will have good general obstetrics and gynaecology skills.
There will be 1 in 12 on-call rota commitments including Labour Ward hot week (8.00- 18.00 hours) (1in 12) and an Emergency Gynae hot week (8.00-13.00hours) (1in 13, AM session only).

Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or appropriate Specialist Qualification
Desirable criteria
- Further Higher Degree
- NHS Experience
- Entry onto the GMC specialist Register or Eligibility for entry within 6months of the date of the AAC
Experience

- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent that required for a UK CCST
Desirable criteria
- Candidates will be encouraged to maintain or develop a subspeciality skill
- ATSM in Obstetric Medicine, Fetal Medicine, High Risk pregnancy
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Appropriate level of clinical knowledge
- Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence based practice
- Understanding of clinical risk management and Governance

- IT skills
- Breadth of experience within and outside speciality
Clinical Skills

- Clinical skills and experience to undertake consultant post in NHS

- The successful candidate will be required to live within 15 miles of Milton Keynes Hospital, or 30 minutes travelling time when on call

- Will be required to maintain full registration with the General Medical Council as well as remaining on the Specialist Register
Health
Essential criteria
- Be in good health Demonstration immunisation against Hep B, plus proof of HBs AG negative status
