Job overview

We’re offering an exceptional opportunity for a LAS ST 3-8, to join our innovative OMFS team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to make a real difference to patient care across a diverse community. You’ll be part of a service that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What makes this role exciting? You’ll have the chance to develop advanced skills, gain exposure to a wide range of cases, and access structured support for professional growth, including leadership development and specialist training. We actively encourage innovation and provide opportunities to upskill in areas such as neonatal tongue ties, minor oral surgery under sedation, and aesthetic procedures like Botox clinics.

If you’re passionate about delivering outstanding care, eager to broaden your expertise, and want to work in a supportive, forward-thinking department that invests in your future, this is the ideal next step in your career. Join us and help shape the future of OMFS services for our community.

Main duties of the job

You will play a central role in delivering high-quality Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services, including leading outpatient clinics, performing minor oral surgery procedures, and responding to emergency referrals. The position involves supervising junior staff, contributing to audits and multidisciplinary meetings, and supporting service development. Success in this role requires strong clinical expertise, excellent decision-making, adaptability, and clear communication skills. A proactive approach to learning and a commitment to patient safety and teamwork are essential, with opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.

Working for our organisation

Milton Keynes University Hospital, in proud partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research and education. With a “Good” rating from the CQC and significant investment underway, this is an exciting time to join our team and grow your career.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.

We are also proud to offer a growing portfolio of specialist services. In January 2025 we opened our state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre.

Further investment is underway, including the construction of Oak Wards – a new ward block featuring two 24-bed wards – and the recently approved Women and Children’s Centre, set to open by 2030.
