Deputy Head of Finance: Projects

The Deputy Head of Finance: Projects has a crucial role in the delivery of major projects across CUH. You will be responsible for supporting and managing the delivery of the financial aspects of major projects at CUH that are critical in enabling the organisation to meet its aims and vision and deliver its strategy. The major projects may be individual projects, stages of a larger project, or work streams of a major projects programme with dependencies on other projects within the major projects programme.

The purpose of the post is to support the Head of Finance: Projects along with the wider project team to ensure the production of robust and accurate financial analysis against strict deadlines to support the production of multi-million pound major project business cases.

The Projects team comprises 4 posts, working in a matrix structure, across multiple exciting Trust-wide projects including the Cambridge Cancer Research and Cambridge Children's Hospitals, and a number of core strategic projects within the Addenbrooke's 3 Programme. This post offers a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape and be directly involved in some of the highest priority projects for Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH).

Crucial supportive role within the Finance team to ensure delivery of the Major Projects portfolio.

Supporting the development of financial models and costing methodology for use in all Major Project financial analysis.

Supporting the development and active maintenance of a finance work plan for major projects to ensure delivery.

Support the work streams with financial analysis to derive inputs into business case financial modelling; identification of interdependencies, financial risks and issues.

Supporting the production of business cases, providing expert professional knowledge to facilitate the development of the Economic Case and Financial Case in accordance with Treasury Green Book guidance.

Coordinate the provision of financial reports and analysis, including the provision of forecasts to enable the Programme Director to fulfil their budgetary responsibilities.

  • Completion of a Consultancy Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) recognised accountancy qualification with post qualification experience in a financial management role, or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Advanced technical and personal skills and competencies acquired from experience across a range of accountancy functions at a senior level
  • Experience of motivating and developing a team to achieve desired objectives
  • Experience of computerised accounting systems and budget setting software
  • Experience of working across the organisation with clinical and non-clinical colleagues
  • Experience of negotiating and agreeing deadlines, standards and quality of work with other departments
