Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Ward Clerk  to join the team on the Haematology  Ward U3 and the Oncology Ward D9.

You will be a well organised and enthusiastic individual,  able to work both independently and within a team. You will provide an efficient and effective administration service. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and work well under pressure. You will liaise with staff at all levels in a confident manner, be willing to learn and work proactively on your own initiative. Having excellent attention to detail is essential. You should have excellent verbal, written, IT and customer care skills with a good understanding and practical experience of Microsoft applications. You must be well presented, friendly and welcoming to all and uphold our Values of Together, Safe, Kind, and Excellent at all times.

Please note that this role will be split across D9 and U3, and the successful candidate will be expected to work across both wards.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the provision of a professional clerical / administration and reception service to Ward U3 Haematology and Ward D9 Oncology and all its users including patients, relatives and colleagues.

To ensure the smooth running of the ward by maintaining the link between the Matron, ward manager and the patient.

Please note that this role will be split across D9 and U3, and the successful candidate will be expected to work across both wards.

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.

Experience
