Job overview
An opportunity to join an established team, as a qualified Dental Nurse, providing support to and working alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care. This is a great opening to develop and expand your skills as a Dental Nurse.
You should be able to demonstrate a compassionate and caring approach to patients, be well organized, well presented, practice excellent Infection prevention and Control, be flexible in your approach to work, be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as using their own initiative.
Clinics you will assist in are Oral surgery, Minor operations and Skin procedures under local anaesthetic. Day surgery theatre lists. Orthodontics. Adult and paediatric Restorative dentistry.

Main duties of the job
Provide chairside support to a range of clinicians in all specialities.
• Within the clinic, responsible for day to day management of the surgeries.
• Responsible for accurate patient record keeping.
• Training and supporting new staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Hold one of the following certificates: NEBDN National certificate in Dental Nursing S/NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare: Dental Nursing or Dental Hospital Certificate of proficiency in Dental Nursing. Or have the equivalent experience and eligible for the registration with the Dental Care Professionals register.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Certificates in:- • Conscious Sedation. • Oral Health Education. • Radiography. • Orthodontic Nursing • Implants
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical practice in dental nursing skills and infection control practices
Desirable criteria
- Experience of mentoring and teaching junior staff
- Experience of co-ordinating clinic in the absence of senior colleagues
- Proven clinical practice in Implantology, Oral health education and Oral Surgery
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Dental Nursing code of conduct and guidelines of professional practice.
- Good theoretical and practical knowledge of Dental Nursing within the clinical area. (Orthodontics and Maxillo Facial)
- Health and Safety awareness
- Quality issues and Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of risk management procedure

- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Identify problems and recommend solutions
