Specialist Physiotherapist in Paediatric Neuro-Oncology

Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our multi disciplinary Paediatric Neuro-Oncology Service Team.

Our ‘Brainbow’ Team reviews and coordinates the rehabilitation for children with a diagnosis of a primary brain tumour in the East of England. 

You will be the specialised Paediatric Physiotherapist who is responsible for the physiotherapeutic aspect of their care. You will be predominantly based within the Outpatient setting, but will be involved in some Inpatient and Outreach work. We are a large regional hospital supporting both the local population and wider regional populations.

You will be strongly supported in learning new skills and gaining additional training in this regional cancer centre.

You will have a passion and clinical skills for the care of children with acute needs as well as being involved in their long term condition management. You will also have skills in service development and evaluation.

Main duties of the job

As a Physiotherapy specialist, you will have responsibilities that would include:

  • Planning, delivery and evaluation of the Physiotherapy Service
  • Operational management of the team
  • Supervision of staff and students

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
  • State Registration
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate level education / CPD
  • Able to work to MSc level
Desirable criteria
  • Membership professional body, e.g. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or professional network
  • Involvement in relevant special interest groups
  • MSc level of qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant postgraduate experience in a broad range of specialities, including neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Paediatric Physiotherapy experience
  • Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy Team an MDT
  • Service evaluation experience
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience
  • Oncology experience
  • Paediatric Neuro Rehab experience
  • Experience in conducting formal presentations
  • Experience in Community or the Third Sector

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Advanced knowledge of Paediatric Rehabilitation Physiotherapy
  • Able to work independently
  • Ability to manage own caseload
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of workings of Community and Primary Care
  • Knowledge of relevant outcome measures for this patient population
  • Knowledge of relevant guidelines to Paediatric population
