Network LTV Practice Educator

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced paediatric nurse with LTV experience to join the East of England Paediatric Critical Care Operational Delivery Network  (EoE PCC ODN) to cover maternity leave cover secondment. You will be part of the PCC ODN Education team.

This post provides support for the LTV workstream in the EoE.  You will play a pivotal role in supporting the pathways of care for children and young people requiring LTV across the EoE. Whilst focusing on education, you will also play a key role in regional LTV workstreams aligned with the NCEPOD recommendations.

The post holder, in collaboration with the tertiary LTV service and the Network LTV clinical lead, will continue the existing planned delivery and evaluation of LTV education packages across the EoE. Delivery of MDT LTV education across the network will be a significant part of the role, providing support to individual Trusts where required. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic and informed paediatric nurse/educator with an excellent knowledge of LTV care, able to work autonomously. S/he will be an excellent communicator, able to successfully interact with multi-disciplinary teams. An understanding of national education frameworks is important. The post holder will possess the skills, knowledge and attributes outlined in the attached person specification.

Travel to Trusts within the EoE will be required. 

The post holder will work with clinical teams across the region to offer educational support to improve patient flow and experience when moving from PICU to ward/home.

The post holder will continue building relationships with other ODN LTV and education teams across the country to rationalise resources and reduce variation in clinical care and education. 

The post holder will require excellent knowledge of paediatric LTV practice and the ability to teach using various methods including face to face and utilising virtual platforms.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Childrens Nurse
  • Holds a recognised Paediatric Critical Care qualification
  • Recognised Teaching/mentoring qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Management /Leadership training/qualification
  • IT training
  • Educated to Masters level in relevant specialist field or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in specialist area

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of caring for CYP requiring long-term ventilation.
  • Nursing experience in paediatric critical care
  • Experience at a senior clinical level (Band 6 or above) in relevant specialty
  • Experience of mentoring/ preceptorship.
  • Experience of developing clinical guidelines
  • Experience of facilitating change
  • Experience of sharing best practice
  • Experience of developing learning resources/ delivering programmes of education
  • Experience of working within multi-professional teams
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working at clinical nurse specialist level or equivalent.
